How to Take Priligy
Before you start
Priligy is a prescription medicine. Confirm with your doctor that dapoxetine is appropriate for you, especially if you take any other medication or have a heart condition.
The five steps
- Take one tablet 1–3 hours before sex. Swallow whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
- Do not take it daily. Priligy is on-demand: a maximum of one dose every 24 hours.
- Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice. Both can increase side effects or make the dose less predictable.
- Wait for the effect. Most men notice something within 30–60 minutes; the window of effect is roughly 4–6 hours.
- Stay hydrated and sit up slowly. Dizziness on standing is a known effect, particularly at higher doses.
Food and timing
A heavy meal can slow absorption, so a light meal before dosing is preferable. Take the tablet with water rather than with alcohol.
If you forget a dose
Because Priligy is taken when needed, there is no daily schedule to keep. Simply do not take two doses within 24 hours to “catch up”.
If you take too much
Contact a doctor or hospital immediately. Signs of overdose can include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fast heartbeat or drowsiness.
When to stop
Stop and seek medical advice if you faint, feel persistently dizzy, develop mood changes, or notice an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling or breathing difficulty.
Reminder: this guide is general information, not medical advice. Follow the instructions your prescriber gave you and read the patient information leaflet.
